Cruiser Racing
From April to November there is Cruiser Racing every Wednesday evening and Sunday mornings. The mixed cruiser fleet race in Hartlepool Bay and along the coast. The NERR handicap system allows for equality regardless of size and the race variety means anyone can win! Races are a variety of Bay Series, Pursuits and one-off distance or novelty races.
In association with North East Cruiser Racing Association (NECRA). There are races to and from neighbouring ports and competition with the other Yacht Clubs on the North East Coast. Our members have also taken part in long races that include the North Sea Race and the Fastnet.
Together with Hartlepool Marina the Club run a fortnightly open Winter Series from November to March with 3 classes racing in the bay, involving up to 25 boats, of different types, from various clubs, followed by a social at the club.
We have it all! All year cruiser racing and unlimited cruising.
For the more adventurous, cruise the North East coast to the Farne Islands, onto the Forth, the Caladonian Canal and the Scottish Western Isles.
Crossing the North Sea, Ijmuiden and Den Helder are good ports of call leading into the Dutch canals.

Hartlepool is the ideally located for trips to any of the North East ports from Scarborough to Amble. Most can be accessed at all states of tide and have excellent marina facilities.
Sailing a little further Grimsby or the Farnes Islands are still within a days sail.
Our cruising section join the NECRA racers at the other Yacht Club events throughout the year to get discounted moorings and enjoy the social gathering after racing. They also programme a series of cruiser meets allowing independent passage and social gathering.
