A Fab Day Out!

Sunday 26th June 2016

A beautiful Sunday morning at THYC, 5 Jetskis and one Rib assembled for a trip to Seaham, where there was a Lifeboat Day,taking place.

Neil and Julie having their first run out after getting married the photo of the wedding cake clearly shows their passion for their pastime of jetskiing.

After the hectic but swift launching of 6 craft, Hartlepool Bay was a wonderful flat sea,on clearing the Headland the sea state changed significantly and the Rib decided it was too uncomfortable to continue and returned to the bay for smoother waters.

The skis pressed on and whilst there was some chop Seaham Harbour was soon in sight, mooring up off the wonderful secluded beach within the harbour walls (a well kept local secret I think), Coffees and very large homemade aero chocolate cakes were consumed on the balcony of The Lookout with views of the harbour and Marina all in glorious Summer sun

Sadly as it was a falling tide we could not stay to see the launching of the 'retired' lifeboat.

A Much better sea condition on the return and a faster cruising speed was possible our intrepid Camerman Lee ('Teflon' Corner) using his Go Pro camera mounted on his ski was attempting to do some high speed turns to film the other skiers, however it was one turn too many and he caught a wave which propelled him like the proverbial Human Cannonball some 30 metres from his ski. He was quickly and safely reunited with his ski and only his pride was dented!

Back in the bay most did not want to come in but as there was probably only 30 minutes before there would be no water we set about recovering and cleaning our skis.

A great day , topped off by welcome drinks and food in the Club. Staithes and Whitby next trip July 3rd

I thought the STIG was in Top Gear not THYC!!
