NECRA - North East Cruiser Racing Association

NECRA - organises a programme of inter-club yacht racing and associated social events on the North East coast of England.

Every season since its formation in 1965 it has organised a program of racing and social events for yatchsmen. The racing programme is a mix of offshore, coastal and regatta events.

NECRA developed its own rating rule to enable yachts (particularly small ones) to take part in racing without necessarily going to the expense of obtaining an IRC certificate.

The association was formed "to promote and assist cruiser sailing on the North East coast and to promote a series of races". NECRA now consists of Scarborough, Whitby, Hartlepool, Sunderland, Royal Northumberland and Coquet Yacht Clubs, Tynemouth Sailing Club and the Wear Boating Association.

A warm welcome from Whitby Yacht Club.
